Welcome to the openingdoors website

Background

openingdoors commenced its operation in 1982 as Warrington Action for Homeless when representatives from several local agencies came together to respond to the increasing problem of single youth homelessness in Warrington. A Trustee Board was formed and volunteers were recruited for service delivery.

The Charity is fully committed to the challenges required  in promoting new ways of working, both inside and outside the organisation. It acknowledges  the need for creative solutions in the prevention of homelessness; to partnerships; in raising its own funds; contracted service delivery, serving the needs of service users and providing key input into supporting complex needs.

Expanding Charity

The Charity has expanded its work with homeless and
vulnerable  people within the  Warrington area and is
developing services  throughout the North West.

The new project is called "Futures" and it works with
homeless, vulnerable and socially excluded groups
of people of all ages, with complex and multiple needs,
including mental health, drug and alcohol problems
and people with disabilities.  We aim to respond to the
needs of the group to provide interventions, education, information and advice to assist them to lead a healthy independent lifestyle.  Also, encouraging participation and positive contributions to the community.
